Manufactory Letter 4/2019

Sophisticated mechanics and striking design

Dear Sir or Madam,

Inner and outer beauty is a fundamental principle at Glashütte Original.  Whether a matter of a harmonious overall design, artful engravings on complicated components or shimmering blue dials – our desire to achieve absolute perfection and beauty is reflected in an exceptional manner in 2019’s new products. The colour blue creates particularly strong accents.

The new PanoMaticLunar and PanoReserve make a strong impression, thanks above all to their vibrant blue dials. The Senator Chronometer Tourbillon, Senator Chronometer and the PanoInverse catch everyone's eye with nuanced blues in artful decorations, elaborately finished dials and three-dimensional optics.

We wish you much pleasure in reading!

Golden moon and stars across a silver sky

The new PanoMaticLunar present a galvanic blue dial framed by a satin-brushed and polished red gold case. The model impresses with its refined moon phase display featuring a golden moon and stars scattered across a silver sky. The two gold-coloured moons are turned out using a diamond-tipped tool, which gives them their beautifully convex form and unique brilliance.

High-contrast blue and gold

With its unmistakable design and high-contrast blue and gold colouring, the PanoReserve proves convincing as well. The fan-shaped power reserve display (Auf/Ab) and the golden hour and minute hands, inlaid with Super-LumiNova, are particularly striking. Offset by the galvanic blue of the dial, the hands are especially expressive.

Complication meets sophistication

Within the masterpiece that is the Senator Chronometer Tourbillon lies a finely finished movement. Beneath the off-centre, galvanic blue dial the different levels and traditional decorative finishes come together to offer fascinating insights. An unusual three-dimensional impression emerges from the dial and Flying Tourbillon, which rise up like miniature towers in the upper and lower halves of the movement. This world first edition in platinum is limited to 25 pieces.

Chronometer precision in elegant attire

The Senator Chronometer was first introduced in the year 2009. Since then the timeless and elegant model has become a successful classic within the Senator collection. In 2019 a contemporary version follows, presented in a newly designed case in red gold. A slimmer bezel lends greater presence to the fine, silver-grained texture of the dial.

Filigreed work of art

In the new edition of the PanoInverse one finds the artfully engraved “butterfly bridge” appearing to float freely in space, entirely on its own. The characteristic three-quarter plate, which is usually found at the back of the movement, is also given pride of place in this Limited Edition. Fine lines and delicate branching form filigreed foliage extending across the rhodium-plated surface – and not only on the front, including the balance bridge, but on the back of the movement as well. The new timepiece in platinum is limited to 25 pieces.
